We knew that our attempt to break the record for the Raid Pyrenean crossing was going to be extreme and that the margin between success and failure would be very small. Massage was helpful, but once we were into the event itself, its impact was limited. However, acupuncture proved hugely effective, producing genuine healing overnight and allowing us to ride again the following day. I remember stepping out of bed on Day 2 and being genuinely amazed at how good I felt, despite having ridden for 12 hours over 8 mountains the previous day. I put this down to Bernard’s acupuncture more than any other factor.

		My husband and I had been trying for a baby for seven years, then I heard about Bernard’s Fertility Programme. 		I pulled out of IVF treatment as I was unsure about it. Then someone mentioned that they knew an acupuncturist who, at that point, had helped 12 couples in a similar situation and all 12 had got pregnant. Bernard told us that we were going to do acupuncture for 8 weeks and during that time we didn’t have to try to get pregnant. So the pressure was off us. A month after the treatment ended I found I was pregnant - if the baby is a boy we will have Bernard as a middle name.
