Bernard's Acupuncture Fertility treatment has become so successful he has been invited regularly to appear on Channel Five's Trisha Goddard TV Show to treat a previously infertile couple - they are now about to film an update introducing their new healthy baby girl to the viewers!
Bernard has developed his Eight Week Natural Fertility Enhancement Programme over the past 15 years and has had an exceptionally high success rate so far with the couples he has treated. These were people who had been trying, unsuccessfully, many orthodox treatments for a number of years prior to their success with Bernard's treatment. .
Acupuncture & Shiatsu
Acupuncture is the insertion of very fine disposable needles on points along certain meridians. (So fine most patients can't even feel them.) This is very specific. Shiatsu is finger pressure therapy, where we press on not just the points, but the whole length of the meridian. This is extremely relaxing. A combination of both Acupuncture and Shiatsu is given at each weekly treatment. These are basically different tools that do the same work, which in this instance is to move blocked energy that traverses the body's meridian system. Good health, in Oriental Medical terms, is an even uninterrupted flow of Chi (the energy that runs through the body.) When the energy is blocked symptoms manifest. The job of the acupuncturist is to ascertain why and where. This is the difficult part, hence the odd questions Bernard may ask you about getting spots, your emotions, food cravings, etc. It's all linked.
The Fertility Enhancement Programme works on many new levels:-
1) The Programme is completely natural. No drugs or harmful side effects.
2) We treat the couple, not just the person deemed to have the problem if there is one, because the energy of each individual is vitally important to the creation and health of the child.
3) Each person will be diagnosed and treated uniquely depending upon their ongoing diagnosis which often changes throughout the 8 week programme.
4) Over two sessions the couple will receive tuition on specific Shiatsu Techniques teaching them how to work on each others energies designed to promote conception. This can then be practiced at home.
5) The couple will receive a weekly individual Acupuncture/Shiatsu treatment for Fertility Enhancement.
6) Advice is given on Diet specifically to promote fertility.
6) The treatment aims to improve the couple's general good health and to rectify any problems in preparation for conception, therefore, making the health of the couple robust. It is between the end of the Programme and the next three to four months that pregnancy usually occurs.
And as with all Fertility treatments such as IVF etc. although our personal success rate is extremely high we cannot guarantee each programme will result in a pregnancy.

Bernard studied Shiatsu at the world famous Namikoshi Shiatsu School in Tokyo, Japan for two years. He had previously trained in sports therapy in Australia. As a natural progression he spent a further three years at Kyung Hee University, Seoul, South Korea where he studied Oriental Medicine majoring in Acupuncture.
Returning to the U.K. Bernard formed the British Shiatsu Association where he taught Shiatsu for many years. During this period of time he was also teaching Acupuncture in hospitals around the U.K. and at many professional football clubs such as Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United, Everton, Newcastle, Fulham, Watford and many more.
It has been over the past fifteen years that he has had an overwhelming success with Fertility Enhancement where he uniquely began to treat the couple instead of the individual using a combination of Acupuncture, Shiatsu and Diet.
Treatment Schedule
First Session
- Consultation including Oriental Diagnosis plus Advice on Diet
Shiatsu Tuition
- This will be arranged to suit, but preferably as early on in the Programme as possible.
Weeks 1 - 8
- Acupuncture and Shiatsu Appointments
- Nutrition - check ups
Check Up
- Approximately 6 to 8 weeks after completion of the Programme the couple will receive a check up appointment with Bernard.

Pregnancy Aftercare
Once pregnant, if required, we are able to put together a treatment of Acupuncture and Shiatsu that will nurture the mother and baby to full term. Still working from a natural viewpoint and looking at the patient's dietary, energetic and life-style idiosyncrasies. Depending upon the individual's requirements these appointments will be weekly for the first two months of pregnancy, fortnightly for the following two months and once per month up to full term. Points to use during Child Birth can also be taught.

My husband and I had been trying for a baby for seven years, then I heard about Bernard’s Fertility
Programme. Bernard gave me a real sense that he generally cared about us, how we felt both physically and mentally. Also the Shiatsu part of the Fertility Programme was very relaxing. I pulled out of IVF treatment as I was unsure about it. Then someone mentioned that they knew an acupuncturist who, at that point, had helped 12 couples in a similar situation and all 12 had got pregnant. Bernard told us that we were going to do acupuncture for 8 weeks and during that time we didn’t have to try to get pregnant. So the pressure was off us. A month after the treatment ended I found I was pregnant - if the baby is a boy we will have Bernard as a middle name. After this one is born we would love to try for more kids and we would definitely use Bernard again if we have any problems. Since then Bernard has helped with morning sickness by using acupuncture to ease the nausea.
